Ensemble

Good afternoon and welcome back to my blog.

I am posting this a day early because I will be deep in the woods tomorrow without electronics or connection.

Last year around this time I had a vision of a casual but stylish outfit that I wanted to make. I am a jeans, sneakers, t-shirt and ball cap kind of girl and I was thinking that this outfit was a step up. I may still wear sneakers but I will refrain from the ball cap.

After a year of thinking, planning, and attempting, I have finally finished it.

From top to bottom we have a jean jacket that was made using Silhouette pattern number 900 (Carol's jacket/top). The pattern can be used for a blouse or a jacket. Transforming a blouse pattern into a jacket pattern or vice versa is not difficult. Depending on how much room you want in the jacket, you either keep the pattern the same size or make it slightly bigger.

On the back of the jacket I embroidered a feminine design and used thread colours that would match the skirt. The design was purchased from Embroidery Library.

The t-shirt is made from a soft cotton knit using Silhouette pattern number 195 (Sweater Set).

The skirt is made with a chiffon and lined with a cotton fabric. Chiffon is not an easy fabric to cut or sew and I will explain in a future post a little trick I used to sew this very difficult fabric. The skirt is also from a Silhouette pattern, number 2550 (Susie's skirt - it looks like this one is out of print).

In January 2020 and every January after that, I am going to post a picture of an "ensemble" that I found while surfing the net. An outfit that I would like to have in my closet. I will then challenge myself to make a similar outfit by the end of the year.

In January, I will also challenge you to post a picture of something you would like to make in 2020; be it an outfit, a bag, a quilt, or a craft project. We will have the full year to make the item(s) therefore the timeline will not be extremely short, however, a year can come and go surprisingly fast. I am providing you with the information now so that if you are up for the challenge you can start gathering your thoughts and looking for the picture you will post.

You did such a great job! You brought your vision to life! It’s great to see the pieces as an ensemble. I will start thinking about my 2020 project - I think it might be an outfit as well!
